A born and raised New Yorker who recently transplanted to Los Angeles, Ryan Pfluger received his MFA in Photo, Video & Related Media from the School of Visual Arts in 2007. Constantly exploring what portraiture means presently in our culture his photographs deal with the subtlety of body posture, the gaze and how sexuality Influences image making. Captivated by nostalgia, his work often deals with creating memories or memorializing objects and places. Most importantly, he allows his subjects to be present. Today we present you with a long-term personal project entitled "Day of the Lone Wolf"- a body of work composed by traveling cross country for weeks at a time sourcing talent through various forms of social media. Ryan utilizes applications that offer geographical location - Grindr, Tinder, Instagram and
messages people within a 2-3 mile radius. This spontaneous nature of selecting subjects, always day of, allows an intimate and revealing look into strangers' lives.
