Lauren Dukoff, born and raised in California, grew up in a creative household. Her father, a commercial director and photographer, encouraged Lauren to be involved in the arts at an early age and Dukoff got her start by documenting the musical career of long-time friend Devendra Banhart. She has since worked with celebrated artists such as Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Millie Bobby Brown, Tom Hanks, Katy Perry, Oprah, and perhaps most prolifically, Adele, a friend and collaborator whom she has documented for many years. Dividing her time between Los Angeles and New York, Lauren has shot for a wide variety of editorial, commercial, and entertainment clients. Her characteristically authentic portraiture has appeared in the pages of Vanity Fair, Vogue Japan, L’Uomo Vogue, The New York Times Magazine and W, with commercial campaigns for brands such as Vans, Puma, Warby Parker, Cole Haan, Reebok, and Converse. Her approach is rooted in collaborating with creative people, taking inspiration found in her subjects and allowing their personalities to guide artistic choices. Today we present to you an editorial submission, which ran as the cover and inside spread for Vanity Fair's Special Awards issue featuring Tracee Ellis Ross. Shot on location at the Paramour Estate in Los Angeles Lauren captures a diverse, joyful and celebratory performance from one of today's leading advocates & stars. Commissioned by Photo Editor Cate Sturgess, styling by Ryan Young, hair by Marcia Hamilton, makeup by Lisa Storey and with set design by Lauren Machen.
