Shot in Luis Barrag.n’s locations in Mexico City, Amy Harrity was inspired by the architect’s principles
surrounding beauty, solitude, and mythicism. Through exploring themes of opulence and abnegation, the
images touch on the tension of religious undertones. Barrag.n’s keen eye beauty was personified through
the models, playing characters that were once objects of desire to the now deceased architect. Being in
a Barrag.n space is ethereal- like watching earth from another planet, or entering a unknown heavenly
dimension. Everything is compartmentalized, each room reveals the viewer to a deeper sense of self. Using
photography, I wanted to carry the viewer to a specific state of mind by utilizing the natural light and color
in each space.
