During my 10 years at Condé Nast, I was lucky to hone my aesthetic sense and develop my skills as an Art Director/Graphic Designer in a wildly creative environment where perfection was the standard. Moving to San Francisco has opened up a world of new and exciting ways to use these skills. With a keen interest in the intersection of art, technology, and digital culture‑ my current focus is packaging, photo direction and  digital campaigns that push creative boundaries while developing beautiful design solutions to elevate innovative brands.

1.)     What was your very first job? 

 

 I worked at dry cleaners but got fired because I took my best friend to work with me and the owner, rightfully so, thought that was a dumb idea.

 

2.)     Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails. 

 

 My job is to oversee the look and feel of a beauty brand. I’m trusted to create, present and convince founders / CEO how to present our brand over multi-channels.

 

3.)     How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today? 

 

 I wasn’t very academic, and I came from a creative family, so there was support  to pursue a career in art. My sister went to Parsons and was accepted at 16 and that sounded like something I wanted to do. I moved to SF six years ago after living in NYC for 22 years prior. Upon moving here, I needed to sharpen my tech chops and learn something outside of publishing and advertising. I needed to modernize and update my skills in order to work for one of the many growing start-ups in the Bay Area. My focus now is more on customer experience, journey and support as opposed to telling customers what’s fashionable and trendy.

 

4.)     In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant? 

 

  I generally try to read articles that are anti-branding and marketing. History, podcasts and art inspire me.

 

5.)     If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be? 

 

The work I’m doing now, it helps to have a support system and coworkers who provide honest feedback and true collaboration, which is what I have here at AQUIS. 

 

6.)     Which creative disciplines do you commission most, and are most interested in seeing more of and why? (ie photo, film, social, experiential, vr, etc
