questionnaire
1. What was your very first job? PR manager for a new channel ( I-tele , CANAL+ Group) 2. Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.I'm a creative executive at Netflix, in the French original series team.My job is to bring the best french original series to Netflix.
On a daily basis : my job consists in reading/listening to pitch, scripts, sometimes just an idea from a wide range of talents (writers, directors, showrunners, producers, agents....); or the other way around : bringing an idea, a book to the right talent. If we think that we have a strong concept / story and creative talents, we move forward and develop the project - we accompany the creator and producer along writing, production, post steps and until the launch.I'm working in a team of 7, and we have a lot of series cooking right now ! 3. How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? Was there a train of events that brought you where you are today? It took me time to feel I was legit. I felt like the creative positions were opened to other people, creative people, that i did not belong to that world.. In France, it's not so easy to define yourself as "creative". Also I was not very aware of all the jobs and opportunities in the creative industries : I had no example of coming from a small town in the Alps. Now I try to invest time to share, be inclusive and create access to students to explain to them my job and many other jobs in the industry ( script writer, showrunner, producer, agents...) that are so cool to do : basically what took me a decade to understand to find the perfect job for me ! 4. In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant? It's a constant question : how to create space and time to do so.Watching shows, and movies is obviously a daily routine and source of inspiration ;) also a well-sourced instagram feed coupled with quality time spent with teenagers is inspiring. Creative teams in netflix share a weekly list of shows, exhibitions, books, etc... I love that too 5. If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation rather than its recognition or industry "success," what would it be?Hard to say in my journey from marketing to fiction, i would pick : the creation of a canal+ digital content vertical for the brand SEAT around innovation called DETOURSThe mini series BIARRITZ SURF GANG I co-produced with Raphael Carassic... and hopefully soon a series on netflix ? 6. Which creative disciplines do you commission most, and are most interested in seeing more of and why? Which of these disciplines are you most interested in seeing at CONNECTIONS? (ie photo, film, production, social, experiential, vr, cgi, animation etc).
