It was with great enthusiasm that we at Picture Perfect applied ourselves to the project that Aurélie Courtinat of EdiSens presented us. Aurélie wanted the first publication from the collection PANORAMIQUES d’EdiSens to be exceptional. With our help, this Layflat bound panoramic printed in light-light black ink on an HP Indigo 12000 HD on Metapaper Extrarough White in 175gsm is perhaps a world first. This remarkable textured paper has an excellent print performance, giving not only a visual but a physical touch experience. Savile Row Plain Dark Grey from Fedrigoni in 100gsm was chosen for the cover and was enhanced with hot foil stamping in copper and black. The title “Vallombreuse” was printed on the exposed spine. Pierre de Vallombreuse, a much renowned and awarded photographer, has dedicated his life to photographing the indigenous peoples of the world. The extreme force of his panoramic images lends itself perfectly to the intricate nuances of grey, and the deep, intense black of the HP Indigo Electro-ink Light Light Black. This ink intensifies the quality of monochrome images, providing depth, intensity, and contrast rarely seen. The complete 60x23cm lay-flat opening of the book offers the viewer the almost cinematographic effect of the photography. The beholder enters the image, feels the reality of the captured situation and perceives its atmosphere. A combination of all these extraordinary elements is united to create this exceptional work of art. The publication in 310 numbered examples will be available in bookstores from 2 April 2019.
