Nicolas graduated from Beaux-Arts in 1991. He quickly moved towards design, passionate about graphics and communication. He creates, revamps and activates brands. Creator of visual identities, packaging, retail design, on and off trade activations, digital & social media activations… He especially worked for the brands Orange, TGV, Nissan, Etihad Airways, Chivas Regal, Absolut Vodka ... Recently, he has redesigned the Système U and OUI.sncf brands in France. He has been Design Creative Director for TBWA \ Group for more than 10 years. For one year, he has been one of the founders and the Executive Creative Director of the brand new Brand Thinking & Design agency of TBWA\GROUPE : ZAKKA.

1.) What was your very first job? What does it feels like to look back at it?

It depends on what you mean by « job » but my very first was painting pebbles written « Souvenir de la Baule » during my hols. I was 12 and I did sell a lot ! More seriouly, after my studies I immediatly worked for design agencies, first learning Illustrator 3.0, a revolution in my creative work.

2.) Please describe, in your own words, what your current job is and what work it entails.

I inspire, fuel and boost all the design creative production done by the 40 design creative talents of the agency.

3.) How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? Which train of events did bring you to where you are today?

As far back as I can remember I have always created, drawn, painted, carved, mounted huts, created disguises with anything and everything. Passionate very young about fashion, cinema, music, advertising, design, architecture. At 13, my parents were summoned by the teacher to tell them that I had a "thing", then I took private drawing lessons until my bac philo and then the Beaux-Arts. It has always been obvious : to be professionnaly creative one day.

4.) In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how and where do you usually find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?

Mostly in Architecture and Fashion. The 2 master Arts for me.

5.) If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, especially for the creative work and innovation it required rather than its recognition or industry success, what would it be?

More than a work it is a way of working. I had the chance to collaborate in my design work with David Lachapelle, Alexander Mc Queen, Jean Nouvel, Andree Putman, Vivienne Westwood and many others. It's a pleasure to have their vision on a brand, to collaborate and to admire their great talent.
