Jane Han is the Global Creative Lead for Luxury at Facebook & Instagram. In her role, she advises the top Luxury houses in the industry on a global scale, helping them maximise the impact of Creative on social media platforms. Prior to Facebook, Jane held development roles in the film television industry (Warner Bros Studios, United Talent Agency) before founding a boutique production agency specialising in digital conten for the Luxury sector (Vertige Films). Jane is a graduate of Princeton, Cambridge and Oxford Universities with degrees in Literature, Film and Fine Art.

1.) What was your very first job?

Assistant at a Hollywood Talent Agency (UTA).

2.) Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.

I advise Luxury & Fashion brands in making the best-in-class content across Instagram, Facebook and Messenger.

3.) How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today?

I started my career as a filmmaker and that kicked off a passion for image-making and culture. For me there are few boundaries — high-low, mass-prestige, east-west. If what you’re saying matters it should cut through.

4.) In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?

I don’t have a single source. Inspiration is what strikes when the combination of disparate elements come to make together something strange and new. My eyes are always open, everywhere.

5.) If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be?

A Campaign film we made for Samsung that spoke of the power of technology to express emotionality, not stifle it. It’s a cliché and antediluvian to say that tech is not compatible with emotions/feelings.

6.) What social media artist/account are you most influenced by?

I love the fact that @cindysherman has an Instagram account and posts on it regularly. Only through something like a social media account can you see the person behind the myth.

7.) Which creative disciplines do you commission most, and are most interested in seeing more of? (ie photo, film, social, experiential, vr, etc)

Vertical Films for IGTV (this is a very unexplored whitespace) and augmented reality.
