Alexandra DELATTRE

Communication Dir. | TARA JARMON
After 6 years working in LVMH group as PR near by well known fashion brands such as Kenzo or Christian Lacroix, Alexandra Delattre joint in 2004 the designer Jean Charles de Castelbajac to lead his PR & Communication department. During 9 years she will be working on the Renew of this Iconic Designer Maison, developing all the images & contents for the brand ; from crazy & festives fashions shows to collaborations with musical artists or co-brandings. In 2014 the fashion brand Tara Jarmon is looking for a new era after 30 years of creation ; fashion & communication changed, they are looking for a different way to communicate. The mission has been propose to Alexandra, who has accepted the challenge and began in the position of Director of Communication, Image & Digital. Since then she keeps working to give more visibility, notoriety and desirability to the brand with a trendy and refreshed Image, by choosing new talents, models and ambassadrices and developing the Digital.

1.) What was your very first job ?

My first job was Intern and then Assistant PR in a great multi brand Press Agency ; UNIVERS PRESS for 3 years. I learned so much with them. It was the beginning of everything, I was 22.

2.) Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.

I’m in charge of the Communication, the Image and the Digital of the Brand Tara Jarmon. My job is to make those three disciplines work together in order to tell a coherent story about the Brand, her History, her DNA and her Renew. I have to implement actions and inspirational contents to give visibility and desirability for our clients. Selecting the right talents for campain shootings and organising events are part also of the whole communication mission. Sometimes, I feel like a symphony orchestra conductor… and I like it!

3.) How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today ?

At a very young age, I knew what I wanted to do; and wished very strongly that one day my fashion passion could be my career. I think about this chance almost every day ; come to work with a non-stoppable passion and motivation. I still remember watching Marie Christiane Mareekat the beginning of Paris Mode on Paris Premiere and get into the backstage of Designers’s crazy fashion shows, and thinking « Yes, it is exactly what I want to be a part of ».

4.) In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant ?

The 3 L ; Look, Listen & Learn! Doesn’t matter what is your professional position or age ; ) I have also a great team who helps everyday to discover new artists, new places and new Instagram functionalities !

5.) If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be ?

I can’t choose in between two most unforgettable career moments ; the first was in 1999, I was PR for Kenzo at M. Kenzo Takada time! We organised with La mode en Image production agency an incredible fashion show at Le Zénith. It was for his 30th year of career and also the moment when he decided to leave the company freshly bought by LVMH. A fashion show production with a seating of 3 000 guests and 200 people on the cat walk ; top models, Egerie from the 70s’, actresses, musicians, dancers live bands and even elephants! It was insane, incredible and marvellous. And the second, it was in 2009, I was working with Jean Charles de Castelbajac and one day we had a call from the personal stylist of Beyonce. She needed two crazy customes for a special secret video clip for her and Lady Gaga, it was the Telephone song and they wore both 2 dresses specially created by JCDC on the video.  Until the end we were not sure about the fact they will wear the two pieces. I remember watching on Youtube (the second when the video was out) with Jean Charles and all the team, screaming and jumping around the office! Few months after Beyonce invite us at her Bercy concert, I was in the VIP area, and on the Love on Top song, she put the microphone in front of my face and I sang a little « Lalaaalaaaaa » with her in Bercy. It might be what we call the cherry on the top of the cake!

6.) What social media artist/account are you most influenced by ?

I do not have on in particular; I spend a lot of time on Instagram and Pinterest (maybe too much time!) looking for new artists, models, shooting places or new project ideas. So I need to keep myself moving and travelling on a maximum of inspirations’ support. But one, who is not for my professional research but making me laughs so much is; Celeste Barber or how to fell good with ourself! She is a king of an inspiration but for Life in general! #BeYourselfEveryoneElseIsAlreadyTaken !

7.) Which creative discipline you are more interested in between photography, film, social and experiential ?

Film I suppose, I would love to developed more the fashion movies contents. Even if nowadays I feel like all those four disciplines has to be part of the same project. And in my personal life, what is better than get prepared to watch a great movie that you want to see sooo bad?! With some M&M’s and a fluffy duvet of course!
