Julien started his career at BETC euro RSCG, as a copywriter. Then he worked for all the major french agencies as a free lancer : DevarrieuxVillaret, Publicis Conseil, Leo Burnett, TBWA. In september 2006, he joined Publicis, as a senior copywriter at Publicis Net. In 2009, he became Creative Director at Publicis Net and in 2011 at Marcel Worldwide. In 2015 he became ECD at BBDO Proximity. In 2017 Julien starts a new agency as ECD : Buy BBDO. He is also global ECD for Mercedes-Benz France since 2015. During his career in advertising, Julien has been in charge of a large span of national and international accounts: Fanta, Vichy Cosmétique, Renault, Peugeot, Petit Bateau, Thomson, ING Direct, AXA, Sanofi, Orange, eBay, Guigoz, Nestlé, Malibu, Pastis, Coca Cola, Banque Populaire, Intermarché, Conforama, Saint Maclou, Kiabi, Oui-sncf, and Mercedes-Benz. Julien has won more than 220 creative awards worldwide including 16 Cannes Lions (5 Gold, 4 Silver including a silver in creative effectiveness and 7 Bronze), D&AD (1 Black and 3 Yellow Pencil), D&AD Impact Black Pencil, One Show Green Pencil, Eurobest 2 Grand Prix, Clio, Epica, UDA, New York Festivals 3 Gand Prize and Best of show, FWA, Andy awards Grandy, LIA Grand Prix, ADC, Effie Gold Positive Change, Cristal 5 Grand Prix, Statégies 2 Grand Prix, French Art Directors Club... Julien was also jury at the French Art Directors Club, LeBook, Eurobest and the New York Festivals.


1. What was your very first job? 
My first job in advertising was as a copywriter at BETC.

2. Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.
My job is about finding the best ideas for my clients and helping creatives to do so as well.

3. How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was the chain of events that brought you to where you are today? 
When I played Lego. More seriously, I guess I wasn¹t made for academic things.

4. In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant? 
We just have to observe the consumer and problems that are facing brands, and then we find a way to connect issues to find a solution.

5. If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry ³success,² what would it be? 
It would be the Inglorious fruits and vegetables. A strong idea that changed the way retailers sell products and the way consumers look at imperfect products.
