Ebru Pinar began her career in 1996 at Bloomingdale’s Advertising/Special Events Department, after graduating from Rhode Island School of Design.  Her work over the next 21 years has focused almost exclusively on beauty, fashion, luxury and lifestyle branding. She has worked with leading advertising and marketing agencies, and served as a key contributor in several demanding creative positions, including  Creative Director, Artistic Director, Senior Creative Director, and Executive Director. During this time, she became adept at excelling in challenging,  deadline-driven settings while managing and delivering complex creative projects that increase brand awareness, strengthen customer relationships,  and support corporate brand identity. Clinique, Chanel, Hermes, CFDA, The Four Seasons Hotel & Residences ... to name a few. She continuously collaborated with the leading photographers and directors of the fashion and commercial world. 


1. What was your very first job?

I started as a Graphic Designer at Bloomingdale’s Department Store’s - Advertising Division/Special Projects Department

2. Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.

I help Companies, Brands, Individuals transform their specific point of view/business objectives into artistically powerful and visually compelling solutions. Weather it be a big product launch/campaign or a simple logo design the process remains the same. I first paint a picture of the final product in my head then together with my team execute the final vision.   Currently, I work as an Independent Creative Consultant to L’Oreal Companies.

3. How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery ? What was the train of events that brought you  to where you are today?

I always had the natural inclination toward visual arts but growing up with a scholar mother and an architect/designer father was the biggest source.  They always encouraged me to  do what I liked. My father was, still is... my biggest mentor and teacher. He thought me how to see and articulate. The two of the most important skills a Creative Visionary must have. Later on I had the privilege to get in and study at one of the world’s most prestigious design schools in America, RISD ! At that point, I was pretty sure my career was all set. In addition  to all of the above ... passion, confidence, persistence and luck brought many different opportunities which allowed me to practice and project my creative vision.

4. In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?

Inspiration comes from so many different sources. The important thing is to be open, receptive and conscious of what is being presented to us every single day. Today with Pinterest, Instagram, FB, Tumblr ... it is impossible to not to be stimulated/washed over with visuals. But in addition to those I am interested in travel, photography, books, music, movies, theatre, museums, practically anything to do with visual arts.   

5. If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry success what would it be?
