1. What was your very first job?
First job ever: sales clerk in high end boutique during college
First real job: photographer assistant
First design job: junior AD at a NY advertising agency
2. Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.
I am the VP Creative & Brand director for the Honest Company. I work directly with Jessica Alba to lead the visual branding evolution & digital content strategy for Honest.
3. How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? Was there a train of events that brought you where you are today?
All my relatives from my mom's side work or have been in the creative industry in Germany. From fashion to graphic designer, architects and photographers. My mom and grandmother were both photographers. I grew up developing film & prints in their darkroom as well as doing retouching by hand. I also used to design and sew/knit my own clothes as a teenager. It's all part of my DNA.
4. In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?
Tech to me is an area of constant inspiration. The immersive digital experience era that we're currently expanding into is my greatest resource. And my 2 Gen-Z boys since they always keep me at the forefront of all the latest cutting edge trends & innovations.
5. If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation rather than its recognition or industry "success," what would it be?
The latest lip gloss campaign for Honest during the pandemic. It became a multi-media execution due to the fact that we couldn't do a proper campaign shoot. We scouted multi-media content creators and gave them loose parameters for execution since we wanted to utilize their own creative genius. The end result was a visually stunning digital journey & experience.
6. Which creative disciplines do you commission most, and are most interested in seeing more of and why? Which of these disciplines are you most interested in seeing at CONNECTIONS? (ie photo, film, production, social, experiential, vr, cgi, animation etc)
Immersive digital experiences like VR, AR and AI. The endless possibilities in regards to consumer experiences is plain fascinating as well as its impact on culture & community.
