What was your very first job?
My very first job was as a barista at a coffee shop and a bartender at a nightclub. I feel this gave me my unique outlook to handle anything that comes my way with as much grace and ease as possible, no matter who is yelling at you or how much confetti is being thrown around. Creatively my first job was as a junior art buyer at Arnold.
How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? Was there a train of events that brought you where you are today?
My parents always emphasized art and expression through art. They brought me to a Herb Ritts photography exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston when I was young and that’s where my love of photography started. From there it was a whole world of possibilities I didn’t know existed, that careers were possible in the creative world and in advertising and editorial. I used to rip covers and ads out of magazines and save them. I knew I wanted more than just to look, I wanted to be a part of the creation of these pieces, any part of it.
In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?
I look to the global creative community and the next generation of talent, the upcoming talent is immeasurable and inspiring in their vision and voices. There are many amazing talented voices from all areas and representing all communities, and I look forward to meeting them and being introduced to their work.
