Glover Campbell is a Client Marketing Manager on the Institutional Event Experience team at Vanguard. He executes B2B marketing strategies for proprietary and virtual events, industry conferences, and webinars that drive client outcomes and meet business objectives. As a brand-side experiential marketer he is passionate about experiences, activations, and content for diverse audiences and believes that marketers have the opportunity to make bold moves to spark meaningful conversations. Glover is known to be creative and analytical and believes in "human-centric" approaches in the B2B space. Prior to joining Vanguard he worked for iHeartMedia where he was responsible for strategic account planning, proposal development, client budget allocation, and ideation, development, and execution of strategic integrated marketing and promotional programs that met key client objectives and delivered ROI. Glover graduated from Howard University with a B.B.A. in Marketing and is currently working on an M.B.A. at LeBow College of Business at Drexel University.

What was your very first job? 

My first job was a cashier at a local grocery store.

Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.

My job is focused on the execution of marketing plans for events that are focused on moving the needle on client objectives. My job is to understand how to influence audiences by applying data-driven insights and real-world perspectives. I work in the B2B space, but I constantly remind myself that humans attend events, not companies.

How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? Was there a train of events that brought you where you are today?

I’ve spent a majority of my professional career in roles that were client facing. Having these experiences gave me the unique opportunity to get to know audiences personally and intimately. I’ve always been a conceptual thinker with a ton of ideas and I’m able to analyze data and tell a story. Working within experiential marketing gives me the opportunity be very analytical and data-driven, but also provides the opportunity to think outside of the box, innovate, bring ideas to life, and deepen people’s connections with brands.

In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?

I constantly have my “ear to the ground”. I stay connected with client and sales teams and stay in-touch with what’s going on. I work in a very nuanced, rapidly changing industry so there is always a need to adapt and be agile. 

If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation rather than its recognition or industry "success," what would it be?

I’m fortunate to currently work for a truly mission-driven company. Client success is at the center of everything we do—and always has been. This past year there has been a recommitment to championing our clients, which I think is important. Any company can sell products and services, but I appreciate a company that is also able to genuinely stand behind their brand. As marketers, we should make sure that our work is reflective of the people that we serve.

Which creative disciplines do you commission most, and are most interested in seeing more of and why? Which of these disciplines are you most interested in seeing at CONNECTIONS? (ie photo, film, production, social, experiential, vr, cgi, animation etc)

In 2021 and certainly in 2022 brands have an opportunity to reimagine everything. Literally everything. Experiences, engagement, audiences, marketing strategies, content, and speakers. Which I think is pretty exciting. I’m interested in seeing more brand side and agency collaboration as hybrid events emerge later this year into 2022. Brands will be focused on who cracking the code on hybrid experiences. I’m looking forward to seeing the latest developments in experiential marketing,  production and social media.
