Independent design curator and freelance journalist, based in Milan, she writes on a regularly for Domus, Vogue Italia + she runs her own column on Icon Design, titled L’Ascensore. she collaborates with several international institutions, curating shows and related books; her last projects are Superdesign, a show, a book by Monacelli Press and a film about Italian Radical Design, Vegan Design by Erez Nevi Pana, presented for 2018 Milan Design Week and Fun House, currently on show at the National Building Museum, in Washington D.C., a retrospective about American studio Snarkitecture. 


1. What was your very first job?

When I was little, I was scared of snakes and therefore, to fight my fear, I went and worked in a reptilarium. But I have never fed the snakes.

2. Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.

I m an independent design curator and freelance writer. I deal people, institutions, exhibitions and books and I write on a regular basis for magazines such as Vogue Italia and Domus. I also run my own column on Icon Design titled L’Ascensore - the elevator in English.

3. How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today?

I was lucky enough to grow up in Rimini, a small city on the Italian Adriatic coast. Rimini is a city stereotypically linked to entertainment, fun, sport, and of course food. It almost feels as a temporary space because it is a destination where you would spend just a few days, party like animals to blow your mind away and then go. Maybe it is from there that I have learned the true meaning of a few important words: euphoria, eye-catch, impermanence, excitement. As a professional I have worked hard to get along, or get away from these words.

4. In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?

I believe that inspiration comes from working. And always look at the world out there, of course.

5. If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be?

One project leads to the next almost in a constant flow. It is like composing a jigsaw, if you take a piece away you’d still be able to recognize the whole image, but it won’t be fair to the other bits.
