Creative director with a background in both digital and copywriting backgrounds, Jack has been working for 15 years in the main advertising agency networks (Publicis Groupe, WPP, Omnicom) for clients such as Alfa Romeo, BNL-BNP Paribas, Eni, Heineken, Kit Kat, Nintendo, The Coca-Cola Company among others. He also co-drove a political campaign, co-wrote a book on creative content, got awarded with 70+ national and international awards, and was invited as a juror for different advertising festivals.In 2017 he's been awarded together with his students with the Grand Prix at the Italian Art Directors Club. Jack coordinates today a Master in Creative Direction at IED, and has been recently appointed as the Creative Director of TBWA\ offices in Rome.


1. What was your very first job?

I worked as a clerk at a clothing store. I was a student at that time, and I thought this could help me to put some money aside. At the end, I earned much more, learning the basics of psychology and human behavior. If you have to sell someone a 100/200/300€ pair of jeans, first you have to understand the person you have in front. Which is the same identical thing we have to do in advertising and communication.

2. Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.

As a Creative Director, not only do you have to manage creative teams, but you are also a point of reference for many people: planners, managing directors, clients, external production companies. Not all things go as I would like, but I’ve learned that you always have to breathe and smile. No panic. This is my secret.

3. How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What were the train of events that brought you to where you are today?

When I was around 16 years old, I really liked to read the newspaper. So, I wanted to become a journalist and tell people how the world was going! Once I read an article which I remember was full of imperfections and fake news. This drove me crazy, and I told myself: if I have to invent stuff, I’d rather work in advertising.

4. In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?

My motto is: “learning by teaching”. For almost 10 years, I’ve been working as a professor in several communication schools. Every week I face new (and hopefully fresh) points of view, realities, platforms, experiences through the stories of these youngsters. I know most people get inspiration from movies, travels, cultures, tech. I find inspirations in my students.

5. If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be?

Following the famous tagline “Have a Break, Have a Kit Kat”, together with my team we designed a totally experiential website that people could navigate without even clicking once. I won’t tell you the trick behind it, but it was amazing for a project done in 2009. And it’s still a benchmark today.
