Originally released as a set on the New York subway, the King and Country (K+C) team animated eleven ten-second moving posters that use unique neon backdrops and CG animation to bring the American Gods characters and their distinctive personalities and belief systems to life. The captivating, eye-catching visuals have since been displayed collectively and individually to raise awareness and build excitement ahead of the show’s season two launch. K+C began their process using the original print poster art created by Percival & Associates as a foundation. Led by director Rick Gledhill, a one-day live-action shoot was meticulously coordinated, where K+C captured crucial elements, such as tarantulas, ravens and other textural assets, which were symbolic to each character. These components were combined with photo-real CG, rebuilt 3D backgrounds, and iconic text, to deliver an aesthetic that would seamlessly work across different formats.
