Rick holds the unique claim of being the only ECD in advertising history who has also worked a security detail with the Secret Service for former President of the United States, Bill Clinton. 

Before coming to Fallon, Rick held the title of Creative Director at Chiat/Day, Los Angeles and David & Goliath, Los Angeles, where he ran brands such as Miller Lite, Buffalo Wild Wings, The Grammy Awards and Kia Motors. Before working as a Creative Director, he wrote award winning campaigns for Toyota as a copywriter at Saatchi & Saatchi, Los Angeles.

At Fallon, Rick has overseen Arby’s, Silk and Culligan Water.

1.)      What was your very first job? 

Oriental Rug Salesman Assistant

 2.)      Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.  

Executive Director, Fallon. Make sure the creative we put out into the world is worthy of the Fallon name.

3.)      How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today? 

I realized the creative world was right for me when I was invited to a playwright workshop in eighth grade. The train of events that brought me here would require an answer too long to tell – but I would say the first time I heard about ad writing as a job, was when a college friend of mine who worked in advertising told me I would be a good fit in the creative department at Ogilvy. 

4.)      In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant? 

Inspiration is everywhere you look. If you’re not getting inspired you’re not paying attention.

5.)      If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be? 

Toyota Matrix – yourotheryou – the first ever ‘all online’ car launch.

6.)     Which creative disciplines do you commission most, and are most interested in seeing more of and why? (ie photo, film, social, experiential, vr, etc)

 The most exciting part of my job is working with film directors.
