I graduated from St Thomas University with a degree in International Business and Spanish.  I began my Marketing career in the Advertising offices of Dayton’s Hudson’s and Marshall Fields.  After ten years there, I took the leap and moved to New York City to gain more international experience in Advertising.  I worked for a large Ad Firm, The Arnell Group and also for Ann Taylor Inc.  In between those jobs I freelanced as well.  In 2005, I was recruited by Target to return to Minneapolis.  I spent 8 year, managing the Creative Services Department.  I worked for JC Penney for one year.  I am currently now the Vice President of Creative Services at KNOCK Inc.

1. What was your very first job? What does it feel like to look back at it now? Administrative Assistant. Looking back it was the smartest thing I’ve done within my career.  I took a chance at a lower level position and I believe it was the beginning of a wonderful career. 

2. Please describe, in your own words, what your current job is and what work it entails.  Manage a team and projects that connect our clients’ needs and our creative department’s vision. We resource talent, develop budgets and manage the creative execution process from beginning to end. 

3. How did you discover that the creative world is right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? Which train of events did bring you to where you are today?  It was during my first job when I realized how much marketing combined ideas, creativity, fashion (in my case) and an exciting industry. 

4. In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how and where do you usually find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant? I rely heavily on my team and those around me as well as the vendors I work with.  Keen sense of what’s happening around me.

5. If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be? Since I spend most of my time on production and art buying,  I think my most innovative work was when i produced a photo shoot on a glacier in Canada for a Ralph Lauren catalog.   So much goes into something like that.  Who knew you had to air lift a porta potty when you shoot on a glacier!
