GRAMENZ-HOLBEIN
I was born in Berlin 1977. Yes, I'm a real Berliner! Soon after getting my degree in teaching art, music and German, I started in 2000 doing what I really love: filmmaking.Whilst gathering first my experiences on set, I began to build a strong network of international contacts that I have been building ever since then. From that pointon I have spent years honing my craft at various projects. A large part of my career was enjoyed abroad where I have been responsible for crew hiring, management, strategic planning and budgeting of film and advertising projects. I returned to Berlin in 2010 and consolidated my knowledge by completing the IHK examination ‘Production Manager - Film and Television’.I started to work with production agencies who specialise in providing a worldwide creative and media agency service for major clients in the industrial and economic sectors, especially the automobile industry. I began to focus on jobs with the extensive use of CGI in post-production, as I wanted to increase my knowledge about digital post-production processes.Due to my working in the field of advertising for several years, my production skills are highly advanced. Management of personnel and crew as well as budgeting for and during the making of a film or commercial are only a fraction of the expertise I can bring along. I am passionate about storytelling and want to create powerful, compelling stories through different visual mediums. I’m always pushing my artistic boundaries and seeking out the positive team atmosphere so that creatives have the calm and space needed to produce outstanding results.
questionnaire
1) What was your very first job?
My very first job was a street casting sessions for Berlin-based agency DeeBeePhunky in Barcelona – without speaking one word of Spanish or Catalan, to be frank.
2) Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.
I am antoni’s Head of TV. This entails director scouting, productions & client relationships, and, erm, facility management.
3) How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was the train of events that brought you to where you are today?
I studied film, as well as a second degree as a school teacher, plus I have a degree at the IHK (industry and retail chamber) for producting films and TV (which I did when my daughter was just born – imagine the pram in the class-room). My parents derive both from the movie/docu world, so studying to be a teacher was a necessary antidote to their wild lives. But finally I landed in the creative world and I love my job, being thankful each and everyday to be able to do what I do.
4) In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?
Well it’s rather my creative department colleagues here at antoni who stand for innovation, freshness and relevance. But it’s never boring to transform a script or a creative idea into numbers and logistics which is what I do! Pairing my colleagues’ creative output with directors’ ideas and concepts, using my networking to always keep on the sharp edge of things, and looking at the world with a 360 degree angle (it’s NOT just TV spots these days....) – antoni offers such an inspiring coexistence of fashion and automotive which adjusts to my ever searching for progression.
5) If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be?
Definitely our 2019 Cannes success, Bertha Benz for Mercedes-Benz Cars, which we released on International Women’s Day. (https://antoni.de/case/bertha-benz/)
6) What social media artist/account are you most influenced by?
None. Good books, good talks, good photos: that’s what keeps me going. Looking back, Benetton’s Colors magazine was a ground-shaker in my world! Everything was different after seeing the first issue...
7) Which creative disciplines do you commission most, and are most interested in seeing more of?
I am definitely a photomaniac. I collect photo books, soooo many books, oh Lord... This doesn’t answer the question but I had to say it!
