questionnaire
1. What was your very first job? What does it feel like to look back at it now?
Graphic Designer at Thomas Manns & Company in London. I learnt a lot and worked on very nice projects but it was not a nice working environment.
2. Please describe, in your own words, what your current job is and what work it entails.
I am the director at my own company Schober Design. Most of my work entails branding and art direction work in addition to running a company. I have a good set up of friends and partners all over Europe which makes the work dynamic, interesting and fun.
3. How did you discover that the creative world is right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? Which train of events did bring you to where you are today?
I started doing graffiti as a teenager in Hamburg, this was the first time I came in contact with letter shapes and the use of colour.
I was also lucky to have a few mentors a long the way who paved the way for my career. Starting with a very good art teacher who pushed me to pursue the arts. At university I had the privilege of being taught by Hamish Muir from 8vo in London. Most of all I owe my interest in the arts and creative world to my parents who are both very artistic and pushed me to pursue it.
4. In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how and where do you usually find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?
Most of my influence comes from photography, design and music.
5. If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be?
Our 40Y anniversary film for Porsche Design and all of our logo work.
6. Which creative disciplines do you commission most, and are most interested in seeing more of and why? (ie photo, film, social, experiential, vr, etc)
I mainly commission photography and digital work. Would love to see more VR and AR work to see how it can be applied to help my clients be more creative and successful in their respective fields.
