Alice FEJA

Head of Art Buying | KOLLE REBBE

In the year 2000 Alice Feja has joined Kolle Rebbe and a few years ago she has been appointed head of the Art Buying department.
Alice handles various national and international clients, such as Lufthansa, Audi, Kaldewei, Hansgrohe, TUI and Ritter Sport.
The challenges that the broad diversity of Kolle Rebbe clients bring to the table require the entire spectrum of contemporary Art Buying: from no budget productions to creative for new and unestablished channels and from luxury to alternative shoots - Alice leads and develops all projects with her passion for photography. Which is why, in her free time she co-founded the WEITSPRUNG event series to support young photo talents - the latest event just took place mid April 2017.

What was your very first job?

My first project for Kolle Rebbe was a simple, classical and high-quality Still-life Campaign for a German newspaper called Frankfurter Rundschau.

Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails?

Being an art buyer requires curiosity and constant search for new creative talents: every day, in every city, on blogs, in magazines and at any kind of exhibition. My most important goal is to connect these newly-discovered artists, as well as well-established and young talents, with the creatives within my agency.

Being good at my job means to me to have a fine antenna for people’s needs, skills and personalities - this refers to artists, talents and creatives in the same way. I love to bring the right people together for the right job.

How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today?

I fell in love with the creative world at the photography classes of my high school. Then at University I painfully realized that my aspiration and demands towards photography exceed my own talent for it by far. Yet the job as an Art Buyer allows me to collaborate with the greatest photographers, Illustrators and other artists without having to be an artist myself.

In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?

Things that influence me: browsing Pinterest, all kinds of art and artists, my every day work and last but not least my life with my very lively family.

If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be?

Many projects made me proud for various reasons. If I had to pick one today it would be the recently launched an Audi campaign due to its concept and outstanding quality. Another milestone could be the global illustration campaign for TUI that we currently execute with a very talented young Illustrator I found.
