Miranda is a visual strategist. Trained as a commercial producer in London, brought up on magazine culture and photography, she moved from London to Amsterdam to New York to LA, working at W+K and BBH as an integrated producer and Head of Production at Kate Spade New York and Head of Art at 72andSunnyLA. 1.)     What was your very first job?

My first job was in London as PA to ad legend Trevor Robinson (now OBE) who at the time had just started his own agency+production company. Looking back I can’t believe want an opportunity it was to work closely with someone of that calibre. I learned so much in 4 years - practically and professionally. He’s a class act.

2.)     Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.

  I’m a Visual Strategist, a link bridge between CMO and the CCO, working directly for brands, niche agencies and artists. The tipping point of idea-becoming-reality has slipped a long way down the marketing chain, so just bringing them tighter is my goal. I help brands whose message is in the detail of the execution - fashion, telecoms, beauty, sports. Production is my background, but I speak theory and practice in sync - emotion, business and the consequences of making - to help visually dependent brands ring true without loosing their step in the process

3.)     How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today?

Weird but real - my first high school project was the difference between American and English cigarette advertising. You can’t show product in UK tobacco commercials so it made UK advertising weird as hell. I was hooked.

4.)     In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?

Asking questions of people I admire, fear, love, want to be, want to hire. Just ask. No such thing as a stupid question.


5.)     If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be?

The department we built for art production at 72andsunny LA: ‘the artbreakers’, along with the blog www.coldthaifood.com + instagram. Talented girl gang in step.
