Martin cultivated most of his design career in Chicago; He has lead digital work for Fidelity UK, Sears Automotive and multi-platform, creative efforts for Aon, Abbott, McDonald’s, Kraft, Wrigley, Kitchen Aide and Triumph Motorcycles. For over a decade Martin was an independent art director, designer and illustrator in which time worked on projects from liquor labels to record labels, social media and shopper campaigns, and co-founded a nationally-attended motorcycle rally that, in its 13th year, reached over 15,000 in attendance, sponsored by Progressive Insurance, Triumph Motorcycles and Harley-Davidson.

Currently, Martin is the Global Art Director for Wilson Baseball, responsible for the design and creative output for Wilson Baseball lines and Louisville Slugger. He also oversees creative and manages the brands of Evoshield, DeMarini and Atec.

What was your very first job? 

Grave digger.

 

Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails. 

I lead Creative, design and manage cats for two of the best names in Baseball, Wilson and Louisville Slugger.

 

How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today? 

I’ve never thought of going in another direction than being a creative. I drew on everything since I could pick up a crayon.

 

In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant? 

This is only a problem if you don’t love what you do. We have inspiration on-tap now. The only challenge is time.

 

If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be? 

The short-format video, Shigeaki Aso: Portrait of a Master Craftsman.
