After graduating with a Journalism degree, I worked as a copywriter and technical writer at a telecommunications company. I continued my technical writer career at several software companies and lucked out when one company changed its focus and a marketing/communications role opened up. After a long stint working in various MarCom management roles within the software industry I landed my current position in the automotive aftermarket division at Bosch.

1.)     What was your very first job? 

McDonalds, working the grill. After three months, I had enough and quit. One of the best decisions I ever made.

 

2.)     Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails

I manage the creative development of product content, communication materials, packaging and product campaigns for multiple automotive aftermarket product lines. I develop communication plans to support product lines based on business objectives and marketing strategy, with the goal of delivering projects on time and on budget. On a daily basis, I direct graphic design and interface with business units, sales, corporate communications, digital services, customers and vendors, while also managing external agencies and promotions.

           

3.)     How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today? 

My mom did creative things for us when we were kids, and she encouraged our creativity. We used our imagination a lot growing up and that really solidified my creative passion.

 

 

4.)     In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant? 

I try to keep my work fresh and innovative by looking outside automotive – finding inspiration from various art disciplines and collaborating with colleagues from other industries.

 

5.)     If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be? 

I haven’t painted my masterpiece yet, but I’m working on it.
