Alex Norman is Head of Agency Growth at Global Team Blue (Ford’s Global Marketing Agency) helping Ford Motor Company solve the world’s mobility needs of today and tomorrow. Previously, Alex led the content studio for Ford and founded Armstrong a digital design firm specializing in fashion, beauty and luxury brands which include Shiseido, Chopard, Zadig & Voltaire among others. Alex’s 19+ year career spans across advertising, marketing, entertainment and technology for global brands with award winning work for American Express, and Jaguar Cars.


What was your very first job?

Working as a production assistant at a women’s sportswear company in Manhattan

Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails.

My current job is to set a vision and drive prototype design for how people around the world will interact with transportation alternatives in the future.

How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery?

What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today? Art, Architecture, Fashion and music were the fuel for my curiosity at a young age. My insatiable curiosity made me want to work in an industry where I could be exposed a diverse set of brand, industry, and categories that spanned the globe.

In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant? 

I find inspiration from the bright spots in dark places, where hope is lost for many but found by few. Travel helps fuel this flame, and when I see humanity overcome hardship it quickly helps me set aside my petty creative roadblocks and get re-energized.

If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be?

2002 Advanced Product Design for Lincoln. We paired artists, designers, ethnographers with industrial designers to create product proposals for vehicles that are similar to the ones we see on the road today…
