Rachid Naas has been working in the fashion and photography industry since 1999. His broad range of skills such as producer, art buyer, consultant and curator has enabled him to work for commercial clients, the cultural scene and fashion-platforms. He is always on the look for young, emerging and unique talent, worldwide. Based in Amsterdam, he is the co-founder of the Dutch Fashion Council and the Fashion House Maastricht, he connects the visual talent with the brands and keeps working as a photography and fashion producer. Rachid, is currently also working as a creative producer for Calvin Klein.

What was your very first job? 
My first ever paid job was at a beer brewery where I earned enough money to buy a stereo set I wanted to have (aged 15).

Please describe, in your own words, what your job is and what work it entails. 
Over the years my jobs have become more diverse and now I don't name my job anymore. Overall you can say I’m a connector, curator, consultant and producer in the visual field and fashion world.

How did you discover that the creative world was right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? What was there train of events that brought you to where you are today? 
I always knew I needed to work within a certain creative field but it was when I left my job at Cirque du Soleil that I decided to focus more on my love for photography and fashion. Thanks to my job as a stylist, producer and art buyer at Wolf Produkties in Amsterdam I met so many creatives that led my way to where I am now.

In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how do you find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant? 
I also work for the fashion academy ArtEZ in Arnhem and I travel a lot, the combination of working with students and be able to visit other cultures keeps me energetic and enthusiastic. 

If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, more for the creative work and innovation it required, rather than its recognition or industry “success,” what would it be? 
I would say almost every new project that I can start, but to be honest I’m proud of the fact that, after working for 16 years in the fashion and photography industry, I‘m still able to work as personal as I do with amazing talents and clients. Thats keeps me running ;-)
