I have been working in media in the netherlands, Amsterdam for the last 20 years. My introduction in media I had when I started working for Televison (RTL) on the sponsoring/branded content department where I was responsible for finding and assisting sponsors of Television formats. After that I worked in sales jobs for Talpa Radio, CBS Outdoor and Het Parool (the Amsterdam Newspaper, part of De Persgroep). After an intermezzo at BNR Radio/Financieel Dagblad (Dutch FT) I returned to Het Parool as Marketing Manager, where I had the honor to launch a new brand identity of a totally restyled newspaper. Last two years Het Parool won both the European and Worldwide award of “Best Designed Newspaper”. Momentarily I am Leadmanager of all Dutch newspapers De Persgroep owns. In practice this means I am in the lead of all mayor360 degrees (media/marketing) campaigns De Persgroeps launches.

What was your very first job? What does it feel like to look back at it now?
Airline steward after finishing my studies. I look back at with great pleasure. What I learned there is to how to communicate and inspire others.

Please describe, in your own words, what your current job is and what work it entails.
I work on a department with over 30 people where all major campaigns of De Persgroep are produced. All different newspaper titles gave their own campaigns. I am responsible for developing the cross industry campaigns over all titles. In this work I work on a regular bases with external partners like advertising agencies, specialized(online) creative agencies and media agencies. But also the actual production of Direct Marketing, Email and Television, which is down by the own production house of De Persgroep.

How did you discover that the creative world is right for you? Was there a time in your life that you credit to this discovery? Which train of events did bring you to where you are today?
I don't consider myself working in the creative industry. I did have a lot of contact with creatives over the years.

In your constantly growing and expanding industry, how and where do you usually find inspiration to keep your work fresh, innovative and relevant?
By having a great network of creative people and inviting them occasional to our office to hear what their view is on our business.

If you had to pick one piece of work or project that you are most proud of, especially for the creative work and innovation it required rather than its recognition or industry success, what would it be?
I cannot really think of anything.
